My Sojourn in Phoenix

Stares and smiles surround
an inlet of a thousand procrastinations:
it’s here that we sit restive
within Babylonian surroundings.
But the tally of votes cannot be counted
as we await Spring’s final say.
Earlier, she asks for my return greeting
and I just stare dumbfounded
like a crow under duress;
and I realize now that I have missed
a voyage under the stars
searching for Mercury….
